Let's give Noble some credit
Just like others I have been very critical of Noble this season. I am so pleased that he had a good game today. He is a top bloke who really loves the club. That doesn't guarantee his place but I just want to say well done mate. Keep it up.

Got a lot of time for Noble, always gives 100%.

He's looked leggy this season but glad he has found some recent form.

I thought he was excellent yesterday, covered every blade of grass on the pitch. He was strong in the tackle and excellent in his passing

Loved the way he spotted Nordveit warming up, after he scored his penalty, saw him and arn to him, including him in the celebration.

Captain stuff

Another freebie, you say?

There is a rumour we are after Dani Garcia of SD Eibar in 8th place in La Liga? He fits the bill as a defensive central midfielder and more importantly for our owners is out of contract soon which means no fee. :-(

Don't know anything about him and we are supposedly competing with Southampton and others but Pedro being from Spain may have some sway? This all assumes he has teh quality.

Any La Liga watchers know much about him?

Re: Let's give Noble some credit
I think we might be seeing him winding down as a player. He's always relied on covering a lot of ground and as you approach 30 that just becomes more and more difficult. Some players are good enough technically to reinvent themselves and play on for longer, but regrettably I don't think Mark is. We desperately need more energy and pace in the middle, and our inability to keep possession hugely compounds the problem for a player like Noble as he has to spend that much more time chasing shadows.

Ahhh, starting to make a little more sense now IF that was the reason. Because in terms of the game it made no sense at all. Would Bilic have been confident of not losing to Hull without Obiang second half? It weakened us I do not think anyone can disagree? He rolled the dice an got incredibly lucky. I suppose that is one attribute of Slav's we should be thankful for? He's a lucky manager. :)

:-)

Assuming we only get some loans to cover the AFCON absentees (which is what has been hinted out), nothing will change in January.

So we only have a few options left to exhaust them all.

I would try the much maligned Nordtveit alongside Obiang and move Noble further forward to help create and drop Lanzini to the bench currently.

It may not work but has yet to be tried. I like Fernandes but he is too lightweight currently to play alongside Obiang. Kouyate cannot be removed from his role covering the lack of pace and poor distribution at the back and plastering over the weaknesses down the right.

What a lopsided, threadbare squad we have. Carroll the only fit striker that could break any minute.

Owners are also a root cause. Would love to know the recruitment process they follow and also love to be a fly on the wall as Bilic converses with his coaching staff on the sidelines. What is it they saw yesterday that prompted those substitutions and more worryingly the bizarre adjustment in formation. Carroll was playing midfield and even right back to help cover the gaps.

Antonio moving central made sense but he left the right side totally exposed as Ayew, like Payet, does not do defending. Obiang being withdrawn .... WTF was that about? He literally sacrificed our only effective defensive midfielder? I am still scratching my head.

Lily Hammer 12:53 Sun Dec 18
Re: Let's give Noble some credit
Obiang is going to miss the next game any way for yesterday's yellow, so there was no point in risking a second yellow sending off and an extra match ban on top. So I don't think it was the worst decision taking him off.

Bilic making wrong subs?

Bilic not seeing who is clearly the better player?

Really? I don't believe you, I'm told on here how clever the bloke is, how passionate he is, I can't believe he is a headless-chicken, charlatan, know nothing zombie cockgobbler??

Re: Let's give Noble some credit
He's currently just not good enough for the first team imo. I don't know if it's just a temporary issue or if it's just general decline. Sad to see.

Exactly what many of us old gits were saying yesterday.

Bilic clearly does not rate Obiang enough. His ability technically in passing and strength and mobility are superior to Noble IMHO. Noble has a role to play but in the circumstances yesterday he took the wrong player off and weakened us in midfield defensively which allowed Hull to have more chances second half than they had first half.

Subs were completely wrong as were the adjustments. But we got the win with sheer luck and Bilic's poor decisions will be forgotten

I think he deserves some credit. Pension tax credit.

I feel a Selhurst reunion with Tomkins coming up, assuming Pork-Sword Pardew hangs on to his job.

I think it should've been him subbed off yesterday and not Obiang.

We would all feel fucked off right now if he hadn't scored the last two games. He is a stalwart for this club and don't forget it.
